Fourteen EU member States have missed the official deadline set for the implementation of the provisions of Council Directive (EU) 2021/514 (DAC7) into national legislation.
DAC7 sets requirements for digital platforms to report the financial affairs of customers who sell goods, offer personal services online and offline, or rent real estate or vehicles. The document was adopted in March 2021, and Member States were given until December 31, 2022 to incorporate it into their national legislation.
However, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia and Spain did not meet this deadline. Accordingly, the European Commission (EC) sends them a letter with an official notification.
Now these countries have two months to respond to the letter and complete the procedure for including the Directive in their legislation.
DAC7 requires reporting of relevant transactions regardless of their cross-border nature or the legal nature of the seller. The information to be submitted will include the seller's identification, country of residence, the seller's profit or turnover, bank account details and information about the property to be leased.
