On May 29th, 2019, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) deposited its instrument of ratification of the Multilateral Convention on the Implementation of Multilateral Convention to Implement Tax Treaty Related Measures to Prevent Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (MLI) of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The final list of UAE reservations and notifications for MLI defines more than 114 tax treaties that will be covered by the convention.
The Convention will enter into force for the UAE three months after the deposit of its instrument of ratification, that is, September 1st, 2019.
In total, 88 jurisdictions have now signed the Convention and 26 of them have deposited their ratifications with the OECD.
