Russia introduced to Google tax

				18.07.2016

The Federal Tax Service of Russia will create a service for foreign companies, who will have to pay VAT at the rate of 18% since January 1, 2017. The service was presented by the head of the Federal Tax Service of Russia, Mikhail Mishustin, at a meeting with representatives of the IT-field, who discussed the law on the levying of VAT on foreign companies’ e-services.

The federal law establishes special requirements of the tax registration and cancellation of tax registration of foreign organizations that provide to individuals services in electronic form in Internet and don’t have branches located in Russia, as well as the obligation to pay added tax cost.

The head of the Federal Tax Service, Mikhail Mishustin, presented the online test by which people can determine, whether the tenet extended to one or another company. Using the same test, you can register with the tax authority.

Michael Mishustin also reported that the test will be launched in the near future.

By adopting this law, Russia followed the recommendations of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on the equal taxation. The head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Internet Development Institute council member, Leonid Levin, noted that "our government has always strictly adhered to the principle of equal treatment of foreign and Russian companies."
