The Government Russian Federation holds active discussions concerning the sales tax return

				18.11.2011
Recently the Prime minister V. Putin  unequivocally stated that the retirement age in Russia in the foreseeable future will not increase. However another related question appeared – searching for a new source of funds to supplement the state budget. It’s likely that the sales tax liquidated in 2004 because of the Russian tax system change will return. The Government holds intensive discussions on the redistribution of tax revenues between the center, regions and municipalities.
In spite of officials declarations that there will be no tax increase, nevertheless such measures have been already planned.
Expert’s opinion

“Our experts have already shared their opinion that the retirement age increase is alternative to tax increase. If there are no reforms in pension sphere, there will be inevitable legislative changes in the Russian tax system, new taxes introduction or existing tax rates increase. Thus, it’s possible that the new chapter in the Tax Code of the Russian Federation will appear soon as the result of amendments made”.
