France will simplify the procedure for extending a residence permit

From July 15, 2024, a new procedure will come into force that will allow foreigners residing in France to apply for an extension of their residence permit online.

It will be possible to request an extension of the residence permit receipt through a form that will be posted on the official portal of the administration.

The receipt allows foreigners to enjoy the same rights and privileges as all those who already have a residence permit, while their case is being considered.
In most cases, foreigners with a receipt are also allowed to get a job before a residence permit is ready.

The receipt is valid for a period of four to six months.
