Foreign investors in UAE companies

				24.05.2018

On May 20th, 2018, the Cabinet of Ministers of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) decided to grant foreign investors the right to own a 100% shares in companies in the UAE.

At present, foreign investors can own a full package of shares only in the free economic zones of the UAE and are not allowed carrying out entrepreneurial activities in the UAE themselves. To conduct business in the United Arab Emirates, foreign investors must appoint a local agent or establish a company under the UAE corporate law, which requires a legal entity or individual to own at least 51% of the UAE's authorized capital.

Also investors, scientists, doctors, engineers and other categories of workers will have the opportunity to purchase a visa for 10 years, and students studying in the UAE will be able to purchase a visa for a period of 5 to 10 years.
