Italy strengthens the internal politics

				06.12.2011
Recently Italy has strengthened its internal fiscal policies because of the crisis. The EU fully supported such step taken by the Italian Parliament on the 4th of December 2011. The plan of realization of such measures as well as their content was discussed by officials of Italy, Germany and France. The main questions, as expected, affected the content of a balanced maintenance of state apparatus, taxation and budget issues, as well as the retirement age. In particular, the law provides tax increase on luxury items of movable property: luxury cars, private planes, boats, the length of which exceeds 10 meters, as well as increase in 2% VAT rate in the second half of 2012. Also, the tax on the property at a rate of 0.4% returns for individuals.
Expert’s opinion

“Though experts say that these measures are urgently needed for the survival of the country in crisis, and received the approval of the EU, it’s most likely that reaction of the population will be more than negative. The labor unions have already expressed their readiness for going on strike this week. Negative factor here is also the time for a package of crisis measures - just before the Catholic Christmas, which will also cause a wave of protest among Italians”.
