The project of a new tax introduction in the Russian Federation

				29.11.2011
Although there is no certain project of amendments to the Tax Code of the Russian Federation, officials of the country have already shared their opinions on the new kind of luxury tax introduction in Russia. Following the European countries that are overcoming the crisis (for example, the luxury tax has already been introduced in Italy), the Russian Federation is planning to introduce an obligatory payment that is to be made by the “rich” subjects though there is no definition of criteria of such “rich”.
The Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has recently declared that the taxes for ordinary citizens should not be burdensome. At the same time for "luxury and overconsumption" taxes should be levied at the increased rate.
Expert’s opinion

“Russia is again thinking of taxes increase. This time it was proposed to increase the tax burden for the rich people, while the criteria for definition of "rich people" are not given. Thus, Russia continues to seek for a permanent source of replenishment of the state budget”.
