The IMD Business School has prepared an annual world competitiveness ranking of countries based on statistical data from international organizations such as the United Nations, the IMF, the World Bank and expert assessments by heads of large companies.
The most competitive countries have a fairly strong currency, avoid isolation, and establish flexible trade relations. They are also distinguished by effective public administration and long-term planning. A total of 69 countries are included in the rating.
Switzerland has become a model of stability due to the quality of infrastructure and public administration, but there are also weaknesses, such as low competition in national sectors of the economy.
Singapore is in second place, with a growing GDP and strong exports offsetting the country's sagging business performance.
Hong Kong ranks third, having risen by 2 positions in a year. This situation was influenced by several factors: economic performance, efficiency of public administration and business, infrastructure. The main disadvantages of the country are the imperfections in accounting standards, which no longer meet the needs of business.
