Vietnam allowed dual citizenship

08.07.2025 The National Assembly of Vietnam has adopted a new law on citizenship. It came into force on July 1, 2025 and simplifies obtaining Vietnamese citizenship for foreigners.
Now, when obtaining Vietnamese citizenship, you do not need to give up a second passport, take a language exam or live in the country for a certain period of time, if you are a valuable specialist and can contribute to the development of important industries in the country.

The right applies to IT specialists, scientists and investors.
This is the first reform of this scale in 40 years. The goal is to accelerate the economy and become one of the high—income countries by 2045.
