Canada is making changes to the construction industry.

				20.03.2025
Canada's construction sector is facing a chronic shortage of skilled workers. This severely limits the country's ability to build new housing and exacerbates the housing crisis. At the same time, currently about 23% of contractors and developers in Canada are immigrants.

It was decided to allocate 6,000 immigration places for construction workers who are in the country without legal status. This will allow them to obtain permanent residence and legalize their position.

An advisory council, including representatives of the Government, trade unions and employers, will be established to develop an effective construction policy. The Council will deal with wage issues and determine the number of foreign workers needed for the industry.
