Spain closes the Golden Visa program.

07.04.2025 On April 3, 2025, an amendment to the Law 14/2013 regulating the support of entrepreneurs and their entry into the international market entered into force. This amendment permanently abolishes the Golden visa program. - providing a residence permit for foreigners in exchange for large investments.

The government attributed the cancellation of the program to a sharp increase in the number of real estate transactions carried out by foreigners, especially citizens of the United Kingdom, Russia, China and Latin American countries.
Previously issued permits remain in force, and the renewal of those already received will be carried out according to the old rules.

From 2013 to 2025, about 16,000 "golden visas" were issued to foreigners from countries outside the EU.
