Switzerland to cancel "golden visas"

Amid pressure on the European Union's immigration programs in Switzerland, the debate about the local golden visa program, which allows you to obtain a residence permit in exchange for investments in Swiss companies, has resumed.

The program is opposed by the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland and the Green Party, claiming that the program promotes the "purchase" of a residence permit.
Earlier this year, the Young Socialists, the youth wing of the country's left-wing Social Democratic Party, launched a popular initiative calling for a 50% inheritance tax on the rich to help finance climate protection.
Opponents of the tax complain that such a tax would destroy Switzerland's attractiveness to wealthy foreigners.
