On March 6th, 2019, the President of the Russian Federation signed the Law on ratification of the Protocol to the Convention between the Russian Federation and Sweden on the avoidance of double taxation with respect to taxes on income.

The protocol is ratified within the framework of the Multilateral Convention on the Automatic Exchange of Information, signed by the countries.

The Convention and the protocol amendments thereto are aimed at ensuring the conditions for:

- In which legal entities and individuals will not double pay taxes on one type of income in their own country and partner state;

- The opportunity to apply modern methods in the field of information exchange on taxpayers is established;

- Taxation of income from the alienation of shares of enterprises, more than 50% of the value of which is represented by real estate, is allowed to be carried out in the country where the property is located.
