19 December 2011 the eurozone member states concluded an agreement on the allocation to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) 150 bln. to assist the countries of the zone affected by the crisis. The largest contributions should be made by Germany - 41.5 bln. euro, France - 31.4 bln. euro, Italy - 23.48 bln. euro, Spain - 14.86 bln. euro, the Netherlands - 13.61 bln. euro.
Moreover, funds collection will be done not only by the euro zone states, but also by other the European countries. Also, the United Kingdom stated that it would determine the size of its contribution to the IMF at the beginning of 2012 within the "big twenty". The intention to manage the collected resources of the IMF has been already expressed by the Czech Republic, Denmark, Poland and Sweden.
“Let’s recall that at the EU summit in Brussels on 8-9 December 2011 the European leaders pledged that 200 bln. euro should be provideв to IMF for financial assistance to member states of the euro zone to overcome the negative effects of the crisis. However, 19 December 2011 the agreement was reached to raise funds in the amount of 150 bln. euro. However, experts claim that these funds will be sufficient to overcome the crisis of public debt. Also, to the opinion of the head of the European Central Bank Mario Draghi, the single European currency is stable and will remain forever”.
