Portugal simplifies obtaining citizenship

18.09.2023 The country's parliament is considering changing the current legislation, which will make it easier for foreigners already living in the country to obtain Portuguese citizenship.
All foreigners who have been worked a certain amount of time required for naturalization can fall under this change. It is expected that in near future the Parliament will analyze the current legislation and propose changes regarding the time required for a foreigner to stay in the country to obtain naturalization.

Over the past few years, interest in Portuguese citizenship has increased: according to local media, about 37% more people applied in 2022.
