Was born in the USA?

				24.01.2025
						US President Donald Trump has signed a decree restricting the acquisition of US citizenship by birthright. Starting from 30 days, anyone born to parents who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States will not automatically receive citizenship, even if their parents are in the United States legally, for example, on student or work visas.

The decree prescribes state institutions not to recognize children as citizens in the following circumstances:
- When the child's mother was in the United States illegally at the time of his birth, and the father was not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.;
- When both parents were in the United States legally, but with documents only for temporary residence, including a tourist visa. This does not apply to green cards.

22 Democratic-controlled states and the District of Columbia have already filed a lawsuit against the presidential decree, citing a violation of the US Constitution.
