Romania: new conditions for EU blue cards

				19.03.2024
On March 8, 2024, new rules governing the use of EU Blue Cards and other work permits came into force in Romania. The EU Blue Card is a work and residence permit in a European Union country for people with higher education who intend to work as a highly qualified specialist.

The main changes include: lowering the minimum wage, softening the terms of contracts and qualification requirements, where relevant experience replaces the need for higher education, as well as the opportunity for blue card holders to conduct business in other EU member states for up to 90 days within a 180-day period without the need to obtain an additional work permit.
