The European Commission is preparing a draft of the directive on intellectual property

23.01.2012 At the moment the European Commission is developing a new draft of the directive on intellectual property. EU officials state that some provisions of the current directive - the Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement directive adopted in 2004 require significant improvement. Thus, the mechanisms of intellectual property protection in the Internet are still poorly regulated. When drafting the European Commission is studying the legislative experience of this sphere of EU member states and other states, for example, the United States.
It’s supposed that the new draft of the directive on intellectual property will be ready by the end of 2012.

“Intellectual property law in principle is rather young. Naturally, this matter is not in static, it is constantly developing and therefore requires a current legal basis. Commission thoroughly examines recent trends in intellectual property law in different countries and summarizes their legislative experience.
A clear affirmation of the mechanisms of protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights in global networks will allow the Internet business to develop actively, it’ll have a beneficial effect on the flow of investment into such a sector”.
