The Cabinet of Ministers of the United Arab Emirates has approved one of the largest visa reforms in recent years. In particular, changes have made to the "golden" residency program in order to attract investors and qualified personnel to the country, as well as scientists and talented students and graduates of universities.
According to the new rules, for holders of a "golden visa" - a 10-year residence permit - the maximum period of stay outside the UAE has been canceled. They will be able to become investors of spouses, children of any age and household staff (in unlimited numbers). After the death of the holder of the "golden" visa, his family will be able to stay in the UAE until its expiration.
The "golden" visa is issued to scientists, outstanding students and graduates of universities with scientific achievements, an academic degree in such fields as engineering and technology, as well as recommendations of the UAE Council of Scientists. In addition, qualified employees with professional experience in various fields can apply for a "golden" visa if they have a valid employment contract, a scientific or academic degree of at least a bachelor's degree and a salary of at least 30 thousand dirhams per month (US$ 8.2 thousand). Also, "golden" visas can be obtained by entrepreneurs who own a business in the UAE with an annual income of at least 1 million dirhams (US$ 272 thousand).
