Illegal tax benefits for Apple in Ireland

The European Commission decided that Ireland has provided to illegal tax benefits the company Apple in the amount of £ 13 million.

The investigation into the legality of the tax rulings Ireland began in June 2014. The investigation began to regards taxes paid by the company since 1991.

As a result of issue of the tax rulings, profit tax European branches of Apple paid only 0,005% of the total amount of profit in 2014 in taxes (for comparison: in 2003 this ratio was 1%).

Ireland is obliged to recover from Apple the sum of unpaid taxes.
